Scientific poetry and debates
Marchal, Hugues. Muses et ptérodactyles, La poésie scientifique de Chénier à Rimbaud, Paris, Les Éditions du Seuil, 2013.
This book is an anthology of texts about scientific poetry and the debates provoked by the genre in 19th century France. This collection of texts provides a complex picture of the controversy, about the distinction between science and poetry, in which many intellectual figures of the time took part. But, more broadly, by underlining the debates that arose about the separation between these two spheres during the 19th century, these documents also emphasise the process which led to the formation of our contemporary disciplines.
